The results weren’t there

After the Tour finale I am finally home again with my family. It is great to see the two of them again after so long. I am enjoying it very much.

As for the Tour, I must honestly draw a sobering conclusion, although it was also one of my best participations. The mood within the team was outstanding, we were always very aggressive, the Tour start in Germany was something very special and the fans were, as always, great. It was fun.

Only the results weren’t there. Other than that, I am pretty much satisfied with my performance. I did my part for the team and also tried to win a stage. The closing time trial was made pretty hard by a climb and I couldn’t get better than fourth place. Without any envy I must recognize that the other three were faster. Bodnar surprised me. From build and weight he is a similar rider to me. But after three weeks, when everyone is tired, it pretty much depends on your form that day and that extra something, which you either have or don’t have.

Now I will concentrate on getting ready for the Eneco Tour and the Worlds are coming up, too.
